Thanks for visiting Elkhorn Trading Company

I’m Larry Fanning, the guy that designs and creates the items offered at Elkhorn Trading. I’ve been enjoying this adventure since 1984. Many of my creations have been on-going for twenty years, several other items have been born along the way, and there are many more yet to come.

Most of the antlers used in my creations are naturally shed antlers that are purchased from the regions where these animals roam in the wild. I occasionally have a “set” of antlers that are offered in the European Style Mount, which was purchased in a bulk-buy lot in order to obtain the quantity of shed antlers.

Most all of the leather used to create my bags and apparel is buffalo, deer, and elk hide.  And a recent adding of Moose Hide !

 This has been a discovery of some of the most heavy, yet supple, soft,  and durable leather i've ever worked with. It adds a flavor of the "hippy" error crossed with Indiana Jones. I'm using it in my latest bag creations and in some garments.        Once you feel of it...you'll have to have it !

Many of you have met me and seen my work at various art shows across the nation. I have participated in approximately twenty-five shows per year and Echo & Spirit were usually there also, when the shows would allow them to be.

Now that Echo has passed, Spirit is trying to bring Shadow up to help out with the shows.

The purpose of this Gallery is to allow my customers and friends to be able to view and purchase my work all year long rather than having to wait until the next show comes to their location.

And, hopefully, those of you who have not met me or seen my work first-hand will be inspired to do so when the opportunity exists.

 The "New Kid On The Block"

                    Shadow

    Shadow is a Mckenzie  Valley Timber Wolf. She is thirteen months old in this photo. Spirit is teaching her the ropes.  

Spirit & Echo

My two four-legged partners in this adventure are Echo & Spirit. 

Echo is red/tan in color, ten years old, and has been with me since he was five weeks old. Spirit is gray in color, nine years old, and has been with me for about seven and one-half years.

Echo and Spirit have proven to be the most loyal and intelligent animals I have ever encountered. They have been, and are continually, a great inspiration to my work and my life, bringing to me a closer understanding of the balance between man and nature.
